John McCallum

The Honorable John McCallum is the Member of Parliament for Markham – Unionville, Ontario.  He is a member of the Liberal Party, and this will be his 4th term in Parliament.

During his time in Parliament he has held many important positions.  He was the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance (2001-2002), the Minister of National Defence (2002-2003), the Minister of Veteran Affairs (2003-2004), and the Minister of National Revenue (2004-2006).  Currently he is a member of the Finance committee.

Before entering politics, he was senior vice-president and chief economist of the Royal Bank of Canada.  Prior to that he worked as a professor of economics at McGill University, Université du Québec à Montréal, Simon Fraser University, and the University of Manitoba.

He and his wife, Nancy Lim, have three sons.

As we pray for him, let’s pray that his experience and wisdom would be a great asset to his party, his riding and the Government of Canada.  Pray that he would have wisdom as he sits on the Finance committee.  Pray that God would bless his family and that he would have time to spend with them.

Colin Mayes

Colin Mayes is the Member of Parliament for Okanagan – Shuswap, British Columbia.  He is a member of the Conservative Party, and this will be his 2nd term in Parliament.

Currently he is a member of the Transport, Infrastructure and Communities committee, as well as a member of the Veteran Affairs committee.  His main focus in representing his constituents are, “making our streets safe, our taxes lower and the opportunities for Canadians for education and employment greater.”  He has also expressed a concern for improving the Trans Canada Highway.

In praying for him, let’s ask that God would bless his family.  Pray that he would have mercy and protection as he travels between Ottawa and British Columbia.  Pray that he would continue to be a voice for those on the West Coast.

Irene Mathyssen

Irene Mathyssen is the Member of Parliament for London – Fanshawe, Ontario.  She is a member of the New Democratic Party, and this will be her 2nd term in Parliament.

She is currently the Vice-Chair for the Status of Women committee.

Much of her life has been spent in London, Ontario.  She attended the University of Western Ontario and afterwards became an English teacher at the highschool she had attended as a student.  She is particularly interested in the issues of multiculturalism, anti-racism and equality.  She has been very involved in the community, participating in the London AIDS walk, the Pride Festival, the Women’s Community House, the friends of Meadowlily Woods.

She and her husband, Keith, have one daughter.

As we pray for her, let’s pray that she would continue to be a strong voice for minorities and equality.  Pray that she would have wisdom and insight as she represents women on the Status of Women committee.  Pray that she would be captivated by Jesus’ ministry.

Brian Masse

Brian Masse is the Member of Parliament for Windsor West, Ontario.  He is a member of the New Democratic Party, and this will be his 4th term in Parliament.

He is the Vice-Chair of the Scrutiny of Regulations committee.  He is also a member of the Industry, Science and Technology committee.

He attended Sir Wilfred Laurier University where he attained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology.  Before entering politics he worked for various social programs, including the Multicultural Council of Windsor and Essex County and the Association for Persons with Physical Disabilities.  In 1997 he was elected to City Councillor, and re-elected in 2000.

He and his wife Terry Chow have two children, Alexandria and Wade.

As we pray for him let’s thank God for his compassion and love of people.  Pray that God would continue to use him to bring help to those who need it.  Pray that his family would be a strong foundation for his life in politics.

Yonah Martin

Ms. Yonah Martin was appointed to the Senate at the beginning of 2009 and sits as a Conservative representing British Columbia.  She immigrated to that province with her family as a young girl, having been born and raised in Seoul, South Korea.  She is the first person of Korean descent to serve in the Canadian Parliament.

Ms. Martin has been a major force for bridging the cultural gap for new immigrants and is well-know for her work with arts festivals and mentoring young people.

Ms Martin sits on the Senate Committee for Social Affairs, Science and Technology and also the special committee for Cities.

She is married to Doug Martin and they have one daughter – Kiana Mi-Sun.

Let us pray for her that in her new role she will be able to balance the responsibilities of being a mother, wife and Parliamentarian.  May she be granted good health and great wisdom, as well as new friends in Ottawa.

Tony Martin

Tony Martin is the MP for Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.  He is a member of the NDP, and this is his third term in Parliament.

Tony is a member of Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities and Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure of the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities. His previous profession was a businessman and community-development worker. He is Married to Anna (Celetti) Martin.

Lets pray for Tony as he serves this term in parliament that he would be able to have great connections with his constituency, and that he would be able to represent Sault Ste. Marie well. Let us pray that wisdom and courage would constantly be at his side as he works in the different committees and with his colleagues. Lord bless Tony and his family today. We ask that physical well being and mental restoration would come to him during his times at work and when he is home. Thank you Lord that you have placed Tony in Parliament for this term.

Pat Martin

Pat Martin is the MP for Winnipeg Centre, Manitoba.  He is a member of the NDP, and this is his fifth term in Parliament.

Pat is Vice-Chair and Member of Government Operations and Estimates and Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure of the Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates. Pat’s previous profession before becoming an MP was carpentry and unionist. He is married to Barbara Martin.

As we come together in prayer, let us remember Pat today, and let us be thankful for all he is doing withing his constituency and for this country.  Pray that he would walk as a man with wisdom towards the many committees he is a part of, and also for his riding. Lord, help Patrick today with the stresses of life, and may you bring peace to his mind today and in the future.  Bless him Lord in his personal life, with his health, and give him plenty of rest.  Thank you Lord.

Keith Martin

The Honorable Keith Martin is the MP for Esquimalt—Juan de Fuca, British Columbia.  He is a member of the Liberal Party, and this is his fifth term in Parliament.

Keith is a member of the National defense committee. His previous profession was Doctor and  television host. Keith has championed important legislation in healthcare, defence, social programme renewal, a National Head Start Programme for children and poverty reduction.

When we pray for Keith today, lets remember to ask the Lord to bring new insight to difficult situations during his term in parliament.  Pray that he would be able to walk with integrity and with wisdom as he works with his fellow parliamentary co-workers. Also lets pray for his personal life that he would be able to rest well, and that he would be able to find peace within the days that can be stressful. May the Lord bless him and his family during these times.

Wayne Marston

Wayne Marston is the MP for Hamilton East—Stoney Creek, Ontario.  He is a member of the NDP, and this is his second term in Parliament.

Jim Maloway

Mr Jim Maloway is the New Democratic Party Member of Parliament for Elmwood-Transcona in the city of Winnipeg.  This is his first term in Parliament.  As a small buisness owner he brings that perspective to Ottawa after serving for many years in the Provincial Legislature in Manitoba.

He has introduced a Private Member’s Bill that deals with the Airline Passenger’s Bill of Rights, an example of his strong advocacy for average people.

Mr. Maloway is married and has 3 children, the oldest of whom is serving in the Canadian Military.

Let us pray for Jim Maloway that he will have the wisdom to be a great father and a loving husband while at the same time dealing with the many demands of life as an M.P.  May the Lord grant him good health and strength and wise councillors and friends.
