Hon. Rose-Marie Losier-Cool

The Honourable Rose-Marie Losier-Cool was appointed to the Senate to represent the region of Tracacdie, New Brunswick in 1995 and sits as a member of the Liberal Caucus. She was its Deputy Speaker from November 17, 1999, to October 7, 2002, and the very first woman to be its Chief Government Whip from January 15, 2004 to January 23, 2006. On April 6, 2006, she was re-elected Deputy Speaker.

In the Senate, she has also chaired the Standing Committee on Official Languages and the Standing Committee of Selection, and has been a member of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Standing Committee on Human Rights. Currently Ms. Losier-Cool sits on the Committees for Fisheries and Oceans and Official Languages. She has a strong background in education, status of women, and also Francophone culture issues.

Let us pray for her that she will be a wonderful bridge-builder between the two founding cultures of our land and that she will have the wisdom and strength to bring collaboration in the Upper Chamber.
