Richard Neufeld

Richard Neufeld was appointed to the Senate at the beginning of 2009 by P.M. Stephen Harper.  He sits as a member of the Conservative Caucus and represents the province of British Columbia.

Senator Neufeld has a long background in politics.  He was the mayor of Fort Nelson, and then represented the region in the provincial assembly for a number of terms, and served as a Cabinet minister.

Mr. Neufeld currently sits on the Senate Committees for Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources and also National Finance.

Let’s pray for him that he will quickly find good friends and colleagues as he serves in Ottawa, and that he will have the wisdom, integrity and health to serve our nation at this critical time.

Rick Norlock

Mr. Rick Norlock is the Conservative M.P. for Northumberland-Quinte West, a riding to the east of the metroplex of Toronto.  This is his second term representing this constituency. 

Mr. Norlock was raised in the Ottawa Valley and served as an officer in the Ontario Provincial Police.  He sits on numerous local community boards.

Mr. Norlock is a member of two committees: Justice and Human Rights, and also Public Safety and National Security.

Rick is married to Judy and they have two married sons and two grandchildren.

May the Lord bless Rick in his marriage and with his role as a father and grandfather.  We pray that he would have wisdom to play a significant role on the two important committees that he sits on this session of Parliament.

Rob Nicholson

The Honourable Rob Nicholson represents Niagara Falls, Ontario and this is his third consecutive term in Ottawa.  Mr. Nicholson, as a Conservative M.P. is the Minister of Justice, and also the Attorney General of Canada.

With a background in law, and having lived his whole life in Niagara Falls, Mr. Nicholson is familiar with the needs of his riding.

He is married to Arlene and they have 3 children together.

Considering the enormity of his tasks, let us pray for Rob Nicholson that he will have great wisdom to know the most important matters of justice in our land.  Pray for freedom from pressure groups and a keen sense of right and wrong in his life and his ministry.  May the Lord guide him to know who among his staff to listen to at the right time for advice and may they choose the correct priorities to pursue to higher court levels.

Let’s pray also for a healthy marriage and family life in such a busy career.

Anita Neville

The Honourable Anita Neville is the M.P. for Winnipeg South.  She is a member of the Liberal Caucus and this is her fourth term in Ottawa.

With a background in community activism in the city of Winnipeg and much public service, Ms. Neville is well-positioned to understand her constituents and serve them as an M.P.

Ms. Anita Neville is a member of two Parliamentary Committees: Status of Women and also National Defence.  She was previously a Parliamentary Secretary in the Liberal government and is the Official Opposition critic on Women’s Issues.

Ms. Neville is the mother of 3 children.

May the Lord grant her a wonderful time with her family and friends over the holidays that would personally refresh her spirit.  We pray that she will have good health and great wisdom to serve her riding in 2010.

Richard Nadeau

Richard Nadeau is the Member of Parliament for Gatineau, Québec.  He is a member of the Bloc Québécois, and this will be his 2nd term in Parliament.

Currently he sits as a member of the Government Operations and Estimates committee, as well as the Official Languages committee.

He received a Bachelor of history, Bachelor of political science, and a Bachelor of education, from the University of Ottawa.  He has been a strong proponent of Francophone culture in Québec and throughout Canada.  An area of special interest  for him is the preservation and promotion of the French language.

As we pray for him, let’s thank God for a voice that supports and advocates  Francophone rights and culture in Parliament.  Pray that he would have wisdom as he sits on the Official Languages committee.  Pray that he would have time with his family and that they would remain strong in the midst of the pressures of politics.

Joyce Murray

Joyce Murray is the Member of Parliament for Vancouver Quadra, British Columbia.  She is a member of the Liberal Party, and this will be her 2nd term in Parliament.

Currently she is a member of the Health committee.

Before entering federal politics she was the Co-founder of Brinkman and Associates, a tree planting company operating in 5 countries.  She served in  the BC Legislature between 2001 and 2005.

As we pray for her, let’s pray that she would know Gods grace during her time at Parliament.  Pray that she would be a strong voice and advocate for the health and well-being of Canadians.  Pray that her expertise in environmental issues will be utilized by the Government and her party.

Shawn Murphy

The Honorable Shawn Murphy is the Member of Parliament for Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.  He is a member of the Liberal Party, and this will be his 4th term in Parliament.

He is currently the Chair of the Public Accounts committee and Vice-Chair of the Liaison committee.  Between 2003 and 2005, he was the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans.

Before entering politics he practiced law.  He received a Bachelor of Law from the University of New Brunswick.  He and his wife, Yvette Comeau have three adult children: Kevin, Paul and Brian.

As we pray for him, let’s ask that God would bless him with rest and time with his family.  Pray that his travels between Ottawa and Charlottetown would be protected.  Pray that he would have the same wisdom of Solomon as he chairs the Public Accounts committee.

Brian Murphy

Brian Murphy is the Member of Parliament for Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe, New Brunswick.  He is a member of the Liberal Party, and this will be his 2nd term in Parliament.

Currently he is the Vice-Chair of the Justice and Human Rights committee, and also is a member on the committee for Bill C-31.

He attained his BA from Dalhousie University and then furthered his education at the University of New Brunswick where he received a degree in law.  Between 1992 and 1998 he served as a city councilor for the city of Moncton.  In 1998 he was elected Mayor of Moncton.  During his municipal career he was very involved in the community whether in the arts or with organizations like the food bank.

He and his wife, Jacqueline Richard, have 3 daughters.

As we pray for him, let’s remember his family and pray that their relationships would remain strong and that this would be a time of joy and peace.  Pray that he would have wisdom as Vice-Chair on his committee and that he be a man of wisdom and justice.  Lastly pray that he would be a strong voice for Canadians on the East coast.

Lowell Murray

Mr. Lowell Murray was appointed to the Senate in 1979 by P.M. Joe Clark and sits as a Progressive Conservative.  He represents Packenham, Ontario.

Mr. Murray had a long career in politics, having been a Cabinet Minister, a member of the Privy Council and the leader of the Government in the Senate at different times.  He is one of the longest serving senators in the Upper House.

Mr. Murray is married to Colleen and they have two children, William and Colin.

Let us pray for him that he will have good health to enjoy his family and also give his energy to the work in the Senate.  May the Lord use him, and his experience in the Upper Chamber to be a force that brings people together for good purposes for our nation.

Jim Munson

Mr. Jim Munson was appointed to the Senate in 2003 by P.M Jean Chretien.  He sits as a member of the Liberal Caucus and represents the region of Ottawa/Rideau Canal in Ontario.

Mr. Munson is well known for his long career in television journalism with CTV, but he also held the position of the Director of Communications for P.M. Jean Chretien before being appointed to the Senate.

He sits on several Senate Committees: Human Rights, Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration, Social Affairs, Science and Technology, and also is the deputy chair of the Selection Committee.

With all of these responsibilities, let us pray for Mr. Munson that he will have good working relationships with all his colleagues and be a force for cooperation in the Senate.  May he have health and strength to fulfill the purposes of his life and yet also devote energy to his children.
