Jean-Pierre Blackburn

The Honourable Jean-Pierre Blackburn is the Conservative Member of Parliament for Jonquière—Alma in Quebec.  This is his second term of office and both times he has been entrusted with responsible Cabinet posts.

Currently Mr. Blackburn holds two Ministries.  He is the Minister of National Revenue and the Minister of State (Agriculture).  During our current economic crisis these are critical roles in our nation.

Let’s pray for a healthy marriage and family life amidst the busy responsibilities that he carries.  May the Lord give him great wisdom and good advisors and staff as he works with this important department.

Bernard Bigras

Bernard Bigras is the MP for Rosemont—La Petite-Patrie in Québec. He is a member of the Bloc Québécois and this is his fifth term.

 Bernard is Vice Chair of the Environment and Sustainable Development Committee,  and also for the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure of the Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development.  Bernards profession is a Economist, and a political adviser.

Lets pray as Canada continues to walk through this economic crisis that Bernard would be able to use his wisdom and knowledge in these times.  We thank God for the roles Bernard has with the different committees of which he is a part.  May he be blessed for the hard work he puts into his constituency and into this Nation. Pray that strength and courage would continue to be with him as he continues his fifth term.

James Bezan

James Bezan is an MP for the Selkirk—Interlake constituency in Manitoba. He is a member of the Conservative Party and this is his third term.

James is the Chair for the Environment and Sustainable Development Committee, as well as the Chair for the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure of the Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development. 

James and his wife Kelly have three daughters; Cortney, Taylor, and Cassidy. They own a cattle farm near Teulon, Manitoba. James has held various positions in agri-businesses, as well as owning an export and consulting company.

Let us pray for James, for his riding, his family, his time at work, and his time at home; that he will have much physical and mental rest, so that he will be able to represent his constituency and work on his committees with passion and with diligence. Let us pray for James that he and his family will be blessed in this season of their life.

Dennis Bevington

         Dennis Bevington is a Member of Parliament from the New Democratic Party.  He represents the riding of the Western Arctic which is essentially the Northwest Territories bordered by the Yukon on the west and Nunavut on the east.  Mr. Bevington is a true northerner and was born in Fort Smith, Northwest Territories.  He was a successful businessman, administrator and manager before running in the federal election.  He ran and lost two elections before winning his seat in 2006.  He currently sits on the Sub-committee for Transport, Infrastructure and Communities. 

      Let’s pray for Mr. Bevington as he has a really large riding, landwise, compared to other ridings that are smaller and more populated in the cities.  He needs strength and the time and the ability just to travel the vastness of it, to meet the people and to represent them fairly.  Many of his consituents would be aboriginal with special needs relating to living conditions, health care, education, etc.  Pray that the Lord would give him wisdom and a heart for justice and compassion for everyone that he represents.

Maurizio Bevilacqua

     Maurizio Bevilacqua is a Liberal Member of Parliament representing the riding of Vaughan, (just north of Toronto), Ontario. He has been in office for almost twenty years.   Mr. Bevilacqua holds the record for the largest personal margin of victory in a Canadian federal election, winning his seat by 51,088 votes in 1993.  He also ran as a Candidate for the Leader of the Liberal party in 2006  in which Mr. Dion emerged as the leader.   This popular politician is the Vice Chair of the the Citizenship and Immigration Committee, an important role for the nation.  He was born in Italy and understands the process of becoming a Canadian citizen.  He and his wife Elena have two children, Jean-Paul and Victoria.

      Let’s pray that Mr. Bevilacqua will be a wise contributor to this committee with his vast experience and interest in multicultural and ethnic interests in Canada.  Pray for his wife and family that they will be well, strong and healthy.  Let’s remember that he represents the Italian community and pray that all ethnicities will experience freedom and equality as Canadian citizens.

Maxime Bernier

    The Honourable Maxime Bernier is a Conservative Member of Parliament and was elected in 2006 serving now for just over three years.  Mr. Bernier represents the riding of Beauce, Quebec and is following in the footsteps of his popular  father who also was the Member of Parliament for this same riding for thirteen years before Maxime got elected.  Maxime Bernier is a lawyer with a degree from the University of Ottawa.  He was a high profile cabinet minister in the first term of Prime Minister Harper’s Cabinet.  First he was the Minister of Industry and then became the Minister of Foregin Affairs.  He is currently  the Chair of the National Defence Committee.

      Let’s pray for Mr. Bernier as he chairs this important committee as he will need lots of wisdom in dealing with the natonal issues of defence for Canada. Let us also remember to pray for him for wisdom in his personal life as some decisions he made last year affected his position in the cabinet.  Pray that he serves this second term with a fresh start and that he will be fully restored with respect and confidence in the important roles that he has been given.

Leon Benoit

       Mr. Leon Benoit is a Conservative Member of Parliament and represents the riding of Vegreville-Wainright in Alberta.  He was elected to Parliament in 1997 and has served for the last twelve years.  Mr. Benoit is 59 years old and was raised on a grain and cattle farm.  He is a Farm Economist and currently owns and operates a 1000 acre grain farm for the last twenty years focusing on soil conservation.  It is no surprise that Mr. Benoit is the Chair of the Natural Resources Committee and no doubt his vast experience in farming has helped him greatly in this field.

       Mr. Benoit married Linda Gabert in 1974 and has five children, Suzanne, Gabriel, Daniel, Jennifer and Paul.   Let’s pray for Mr. Benoit that he will have wisdom as he chairs the Natural Resources Committee.  Pray that the Lord would continue to preserve and strengthen his marriage of over 35 years and that his children, now grown,  would be blessed.  Let’s pray for his good health that he would be able to continue his work that he loves.
