September 17, 2009

Andrew Kania is the Liberal Member of Parliament representing the Ontario riding of Brampton West.  This is Mr. Kania’s first term in federal politics being elected in 2008.   He is currently a member of the Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security and also the House Joint Chair of the Standing Joint Committee for the Scrutiny of Regulations.   Mr. Kania is a lawyer and a senior partner in his family’s law firm.  In addition he is involved in numerous local and charitable organizations.  Mr. Kania has long been politically active and served under Stéphane Dion’s leadership campaign, and also for the 2003 leadership campaign of former Deputy Prime Minister John Manley.

Mr. Kania is married and has two children. He received his law degree from the University of Toronto, and then traveled to England, where he completed his Master of Laws in Leicester. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1991.

Mr. Kania will need prayer for this being his first term, for wisdom of time management, priorities and balancing his family needs as well as all of his federal committments.  Let us also pray that he will use his political and law experience to bring excellence to his various committee duties.
