Chris Charlton

Chris Charlton is the MP for Hamilton Mountain, Ontario. She is a member of the NDP, and this is her third term in Parliament.

Chris is a Member of the Procedure and House Affairs committee.

She has a B.A. in English and Political Science from the University of Western Ontario, and an M.A. in Political Science from McMaster University. Chris lives on Hamilton Mountain with her husband, Brian Charlton, who is a former NDP MPP and Ontario Cabinet Minister.

Today as we think of Chris, let us pray that continual physical strength and great wisdom would be part of her day today and the days ahead. Pray also that her family will be blessed. Thank you Lord for placing Chris within Parliament within these times, give her guidance when she is with her fellow Parliamentarians, and when she is working in the office.

Michael Chong

The Honourable Michael Chong is the MP for Wellington-Halton Hills to the west of Toronto in Ontario. He is a member of the Conservative Party, and this is his fourth term in Parliament.

Michael attended Trinity College at the U of T where he obtained a degree in philosophy. Prior to his first term in Parliament, Michael acted as Chief Information Officer for the National Hockey League Players’ Association and as a senior technology consultant to the Greater Toronto Airports Authority for the redevelopment of Pearson International Airport.

Mr. Chong is the chair of the Committee for Official Languages. Formerly he was the Minister of Sport.

Michael has two sons, William and Alistair, and is married to Carrie Davidson.

As we pray for the government today, let us also remember Michael and the role he plays in Parliament. Let’s pray for wisdom and discernment as Michael finds creative ways to approach new challenges that comes to the office. Let us also pray that he will be blessed for the hard work he does for his constituency and the Nation.

Maria Chaput

The Honourable Maria Chaput represents the province of Manitoba in the Senate. She is a member of the Liberal caucus and was appointed in 2002. For 30 years Ms. Chaput worked on behalf of Franco-Manitobans using her experience in business to advocate on their behalf. Ms Chaput also attended the University of Saskatchewan and the Collège Universitaire de Saint-Boniface.

She currently chairs the committee for Official Languages as well as Legal and Constitutional Affairs.

Maria has 3 children.

Let’s pray that she will enjoy good health and be able to continue to play her crucial role as a bridge between our two major language cultures. Bless her in God’s name today.


Andrée Champagne

The Honourable Andrée Champagne is the Senator for Grandville, Quebec and is a member of the Conservative caucus. Interestingly she was appointed by a Liberal Prime Minister Paul Martin in 2005. Before that Ms. Andrée Champagne was elected twice – in 1984 and 1988 – as the Member of Parliament for Saint-Hyacinthe – Bagot and in 1984 was appointed to Cabinet as Minister of State for Youth. She was later elected by the House of Commons as Deputy Speaker – the first woman to ever hold this office in Canada. A mother of two, Andrée Champagne is also a proud grandmother along with her life partner, pianist and professor, André Sébastien Savoie.

Currently Ms. Champagne is the deputy chair of the Official Languages committee and also sits on the committee for Social Affairs, Science and Technology.

Let’s pray that she will continue to make an wonderful contribution to our nation as she represents Quebec and has a special interest in the Arts. May the Lord grant her good health and a wonderful relationship with her partner and grandchildren.


Colin Carrie

Colin Carrie is a Conservative Member of Parliament representing the riding of Oshawa, Ontario since first being elected in 2004. This is his fourth term in Parliament.

He is currently the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Health, and before that the Secretary of the Minister of Industry. The son of a career Naval officer, Colin grew up in several cities across Canada, settling in Oshawa when he was 15. He obtained a kinesiology degree from the University of Waterloo and a Doctor of Chiropractic at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. He went on to co-own and operate the Lakeridge Chiropractic and Wellness Clinic in Oshawa.

Colin and his wife Elizabeth have three children.

Please pray for Colin and for his family. Pray that the Lord would strengthen his marriage and keep his family safe and strong.Pray that he would have some rest throughout the summer vacation.

For his federal duties, please pray that he continues to grow in wisdom and understanding as a Parliamentary Secretary.

Claude Carignan

The Honourable Claude Carignan was appointed in September of 2009 to represent the region of Milles Isles in Quebec. He sits as a member of the Conservative Caucus. Trained in law, and having taught at the University level, he has been the mayor of Saint-Eustache and the Vice President of the Board of the Union des municipalités du Québec.

Mr. Carignan sits on 3 Senate Committees. Internal Economy, Budgets, and Administration, Rules Procedures and Rights of Parliament and also Legal and Constituitional Affairs. Through this process he will quickly gain an understanding of how everything works on The Hill.

Claude Carignan is married to Brigitte Binette and they have three children.

Let us pray for Claude that in the middle of learning the busy life of a senator he would still find quality time for his wife and family. May the Lord use him as a unifying force in the province of Quebec and give him many strong collegial friendships in Ottawa.

Ron Cannon

Ron Cannan is the MP for Kelowna – Lake Country, British Columbia. He is a member of the Conservative Party, and this is his third term in Parliament.

He is currently a member of the International Trade committee and a member of the Committee on Government Operations and Estimates. He is also an associate member of several other committees.

On June 16th, Ron introduced Motion 218 (formerly Motion 601) promotes amending the 1928 Importation of Intoxicating Liquors Act to allow Canadian consumers to purchase wine directly from Canadian wineries.

Ron was involved with municipal level politics as a City Councillor and also was involved in small business before entering Federal politics. He is married to his wife Cindy and they have three daughters.

In praying for him let’s ask that God would give him divine wisdom in regards to International Trade. Let’s ask that he would continue to represent B.C. well and be a voice for his riding.
