Mike Duffy

Senator Mike Duffy was appointed in January 2009 as the representative for Cavendish, Prince Edward Island by the Conservative government.   A native of PEI he is know nationally as an icon in the Television News world having up until his appointment hosted a daily political news show.

He is a member of the Senate Committee for Rules, Procedures and the Rights of Parliament, the Committee for Agriculture and Forestry, and the the Committee for Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration.

Having recovered from a major heart problem just a couple of years ago, let us pray for his physical health and for his ability to make a difference on the other side of the microphone.  May the Lord grant him great wisdom and may he leave a lasting legacy during his years in the Senate.

Pierre Dionne Labelle

Mr. Pierre Dionne Labelle is a member of the New Democratic Party for Rivière-du-Nord, Quebec. This is his first term in Parliament.

Prior to the election, he worked as a development agent for a community organization. He also worked for the Canadian Cancer Society as well as many other community organizations. For the last two years prior to being elected, Pierre had written a colomn for a newspaper.

Pierre is currently a member of the Standing Joint Committee on Scrutiny of Regulations.

Today, let’s pray for Mr. Dionne Labelle that as a new member he would learn quickly the Parliament routines and bring great contribution to his committee.

Fin Donnelly

Fin Donnelly was elected in a by-election in 2009  to represent New Westminister-Coquitlam. He is a member of the NDP Caucus. This is his second term.

Previous to running for federal office he had been a city councilor and taken a special interest in the Fraser River region and salmon fisheries in particular.

Mr. Donnelly is the Vice-chair of the Fisheries and Oceans Committee an area that he has a special passion for with his background in being the director of the Rivershed Society of B.C. for 13 years.

Fin is a graduate of the University of Victoria in Philosophy.  He is married to Lynda.

Let’s pray for Mr. Donnelly that he will continue to make an impact for good on our nation and for his constituents back in the Fraser Valley.  May the Lord bring him good friendships across party lines.

Fred Dickson

The Honourable Fred Dickson represents Halifax in Nova Scotia.  He is a member of the Conservative Caucus and was appointed at the beginning of 2009 by P.M. Stephen Harper.

He has had a long and distinguished career in law and has been a legal expert advising the government on offshore resource development on a number of significant projects over the years.

Mr. Dickson is a member of the Senate Committee for Energy, the Environment, and Natural Resources and also the Committee for National Finances.

Let us pray that he will enjoy good health as he serves until 2012 and seeks to represent Nova Scotians with all his experience and expertise.  May the Lord bless his family and give him quality time with them in the midst of his busy life.

Consiglio Di Nino

The Honourable Consiglio Di Nino was appointed a Senator in 1990 and sits as a Conservative.  He was born 72 years ago in Italy butworked in business in the Toronto area for many years.  He represents the province of Ontario.

Consiglio is a member of the Senate Committee for the Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration.  He loves to travel and get involved in his community.

His wife passed away in 2001, and he has two children – Frank and Karen.

May the Lord give him great wisdom as he looks after a very important committee and serves many hours on Parliament Hill.  We pray he would have the health and strength to fulfill all his commitments and enjoy his family.

Percy Downe

The Honourable Percy Downe was appointed as a Liberal to the Senate of Canada by the Right Honourable Jean Chrétien. He has served in the Senate representing Charlottetown in the province of Prince Edward Island since June 26, 2003. He has had many years working as executive assistant to the Canadian Prime Minister and the Premier of PEI.

Senator Downe is currently a member of the Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Standing Senate Committee on Internal Economy.

Let’s pray for Mr. Downe that he would have the health and strength he needs to fulfill his roles in the Senate and to be a great servant to the province of PEI. May the Lord enable him to be a great husband and a loving father to his two children.

Stéphane Dion

The Honourable Stéphane Dion is the M.P. for Saint-Laurent—Cartierville in Quebec. This is his seven term in the

House of Commons and he is best remembered as the former leader of the Liberal Party. In that role he continues to provide wisdom and experience to the current leader and to his party in general.

Mr. Dion sits on the Environment and Sustainable Development Committee, the Justice and Human Rights committee as well as the Procedure and House Affairs committee.

Mr. Dion is a great champion for the unity between English and French in our nation and also for the protection of our Environment.

Let us pray for him as he seeks to represent his constituents here in Ottawa and as he helps younger M.P.s to understand the life they are now living. Pray for him as a husband and a father that he will be a blessing to those closest to him. May he know the Lord’s blessing in his future plans.
