Hon. George Furey

Senator George Furey was appointed in 1999 to represent the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, and sits as a Liberal.  Mr. Furey had a distinguished career as an educator and then as a lawyer in his hometown of St. John’s before coming to Ottawa.  He is known as a forthright man who speaks his mind on issues that concern his province.

Senator Furey currently sits on the Senate Committees for Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration, Rules, Procedures and the Rights of Parliament.

Mr. Furey and his wife, Karen, have four children: Andrew, Meghan, Rebecca, and David.

Let us pray that the Lord would help him to be a great husband and father.  May he have wisdom to focus on the most important issues and strength to do his best of his province.  Lord we pray that he would have a good working relationship with his staff and colleagues.

Hon. Linda Frum

The Honourable Linda Frum was appointed to the Senate by Prime Minister Stephen Harper in August of 2009.  She is a member of the Conservative Caucus.

Ms. Frum has had a distinguished career in journalism after graduating from McGill University. She is a well-known active member of numerous boards and has won the Golda Meir Leadership award.  Her husband is the co-owner of the Toronto Argonauts.

Senator Frum sits on the Committees for Legal and Constitutional Affairs, Scrutiny of Regulations (Joint), and the Selection Committee.

She is married to Howard Sokolowski and she has 5 children and stepchildren.

Let us pray for her that she will find ways to make great contributions to the work of the Senate.  May the Lord give her great relationships across party lines and in both Chambers.


Hon. Joan Fraser

The Honourable Joan Fraser was appointed to the Senate in 1998 to represent the region of De Lorimier in Quebec.  She is a member of the Liberal Caucus and has in the past been the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate and before that was an award-winning journalist and editor of national publications.

She sits on the Senate Committee for Legal and Constitutional Affairs  Rules, Procedures and the Rights of Parliament, and the Selection Committee. One very busy lady!

Senator Fraser lives in Montreal. She is married to Michel Faure and has two children, Elisabeth and Isabelle.

May the Lord bless her marriage to Michel and her influence on her daughters. Pray that she would enjoy good health and know the wisdom of the Lord as she plays very important roles in the Senate.

Hon. Francis Fox

The Honourable Francis Fox is the senator representing Victoria, Quebec, having been appointed in 2005 as a member of the Liberal Caucus.  Mr. Fox, who was trained as a lawyer, has been involved in politics his whole life. He starting as a special assistant to P.M. Trudeau in the 1960′s, as an M.P. in the 70′s and 80′s and as a Cabinet Minister in charge of major portfolios.

He oversaw important moments in our nation’s heritage, including the establishment of our national anthemn, new buildings for the National Gallery and the Museum of Civilization and Telefilm Canada.

He sits on the Senate committee for Transport and Communications.

Let us pray that he will continue to be a good influence in our nation as he sits on a very important Senate Committee and that he will enjoy good health to do his work.  May the Lord bless his mind and heart with a wisdom that comes from above.


Hon. Suzanne Fortin-Duplessis

The Honourable Suzanne Fortin-Duplessis was appointed to the Senate by Prime Minister Stephen Harper in December of 2008.  She represents the region of Rougemount in Quebec and sits as a member of the Conservative Caucus.  She had previously been an M.P. and a Cabinet Minister under P.M Mulroney.

Senator Fortin-Duplessis sits on the committees for Foreign Affairs and International Trade and Official Languages as well.

The Honourable Suzanne Fortin-Duplessis is married to Maurice Duplessis. They have two children and are the proud grandparents of seven grandchildren.

Let us pray for her that she will be able to make an impact in Ottawa especially in her strength in understanding the contributions of the French history and culture to our nation.  May the Lord give her good health to enjoy her grandchildren and bless her marriage to Maurice.


Judy Foote

Judy Foote is the member of Parliament for Random-Burin-St. George’s, Newfoundland and Labrador.  She is a member of the Liberal Party and this is her second term in Parliament.

She is currently a member of the Board of Internal Economy.

Before entering Federal politics she was involved at the Provincial level in Newfoundland.  At the Provincial level she fulfilled many different cabinet positions, including; Minister of Education and Minister of Industry, Trade, and Technology.

She and her husband, Howard, have 3 children, Carla, Jason and Heidi.

As we pray for her let’s pray that God would use her to represent the east, being a voice for those far from Ottawa.  Let’s pray that she would not lose her passion or faith in our Parliamentary system.  Lastly pray for her husband and 3 children, that as she serves it would be a blessing and not a burden to their family.

Hon. Steven Fletcher

The Honourable Steven Fletcher is the Member of Parliament for Charleswood—St. James—Assiniboia, Manitoba. He is a member of the Conservative Party and he is also the Minister of State for Transport. This is Steven’s fourth term in Parliament.

Mr. Fletcher has an amazing story of persevering through an accident as a young man that left him a quadriplegic.  Anyone who meets him is uplifted by his humour and strength of spirit.

In this Parliament, he is participating in the Economic Prosperity and Sustainable Growth Committee and is a member of the Treasury Board.

Let us pray that his testimony would continue to impact many.  May he have the wisdom to move things forward in his department and to be a force for good reform on Parliament Hill.

Pray for his health especially, that he would not have to deal with complications from his current condition.
