Hon. Ralph Goodale

October 28, 2011

The Honorable Ralph Goodale has served  within our government more than twelve years.  First elected in 1974 as a federal representative for Assiniboia Sasachewan, he was later named provincial leader of the Saskatchewan Liberal Party (in the 1980’s) and was then elected as a Member of the Saskatchewan Legislative Assembly.  He was elected as the Member of Parliament of Regina-Wascana in 1993 and has continued to act as their representative for the six consecutive terms following. He’s an active member of the Liberal Party, having held a wide range of positions during his time in government.  Currently he is the deputy leader of the Official Opposition.  Just a few of his previous responsibilities included House Leader of the Official Opposition, Minister of Finance under the previous Liberal government, and Federal Interlocutor for Métis and Non-Status Indians.

Mr. Goodale was born in Saskatchewan, raised on a family farm near Wilcox.  He currently resides in Regina, building a life there with his wife Pamela.  He is a vast reservoir of knowledge, having received degrees from the University of Regina and the University of Saskatchewan.  In addition to his time in federal and provincial politics, he holds a very practical understanding of business, agriculture, law and broadcasting, as well as federal and provincial politics.

Let us pray that the Lord would help him continue to stand as a strong voice for his constituency.  Ask that he would walk in integrity and righteousness, regardless of the circumstance or challenges to be faced.  May he have wisdom in managing the many facets of life, and may he find a healthy balance between his responsibilities on the Hill and at home.  Lord we pray that he would have a good working relationship with his staff and colleagues, and an ever-growing relationship with his wife.

Mr. Goldring has enjoyed more than 35 years of marriage to his wife Lorraine. They have two daughters, Corinna and Kristina, son-in-law Tom and three granddaughters, Katelin, Alexandra and Eleanor.

As we pray, let us ask God to continue to build upon Mr. Goldring’s vision for Canada.  May he grow in wisdom and discernment, that he may represent his constituents and our nation with integrity and passion.  Ask God to open the doors for continued resolution as Mr. Goldring continues to take on the challenging issues brought before him. And remember his family.  May God continue to bless and strengthen his marriage to Lorraine, and develop even richer relationships with his children and granddaughters.
