Rob Moore

November 30, 2009

Rob Moore is the Member of Parliament for Fundy Royal, New Brunswick.  He is a member of the Conservative Party, and this will be his 3rd term in Parliament.

He is currently the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and also sits on the Justice and Human Rights committee.

Before entering politics he practiced Law in New Brunswick.  He graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Law.  He and his wife, Melinda, have two daughters, Madeline and Katelyn.

As we pray for him, let’s ask that God would bless his family during this time.  Pray that he would have safety as he travels between his constituency and Ottawa.  Pray that he would have wisdom as he deals with issues of justice and human rights. Pray Psalm 89:14 for him, “Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you.”

James Moore

The Honorable James Moore is the Member of Parliament for Port Moody-Westwood-Port Coquitlam, British Columbia.  He is a member of the Conservative Party, and this will be his 4th term in Parliament.

He is currently the Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.  Between 2006-2008 he was the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Works and Government Services and for the Pacific Gateway and the Vancouver-Whistler Olympics.  In 2008 he became the Secretary of State for the Asia-Pacific Gateway, 2010 Olympics, and Official Languages.

Before entering politics he worked in broadcasting as a radio talk show host.  He also worked as a Communications Advisor to the Official Opposition under Preston Manning.  When he was first elected to Parliament in 2000, he was 24, making him the youngest elected Member of Parliament in British Columbia’s history.  In 2008, when elected to the cabinet under Stephen Harper, he became the 4th youngest Cabinet Minister in Canada’s history.

As we pray for him, let’s ask that he would continue to grow into his responsibilities and role as Minister.  Pray that he would have wisdom beyond his age and experience.  Pray that God would bless his personal life, that he would have time to spend with family, friends and time for leisure.  Pray that he would represent with equality and justice the issues that affect all Canadians.

Maria Minna

The Honorable Maria Minna is the Member of Parliament for Breaches-East York, Ontario.  She is a member of the Liberal Party, and this will be her 6th term in Parliament.

She is currently a member of the Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities committee.  Between 1997-1998 she was the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, and from 1999-2002 she was the Minister for International Cooperation.

She spent the first 9 years of her life in Italy, immigrating to Canada in 1955 and settling in Toronto, Ontario.  She received her Honors BA in sociology from the University of Toronto.  She has worked in various roles, but most predominantly in areas of immigration, social welfare and as a public policy consultant.  During her six terms in Parliament she has become known as a strong progressive social advocate.

As we pray for her, let’s pray that God would continue to bless her time in Parliament.  Pray that she would be a voice of wisdom and experience, and that her voice would be heard.  Pray that she would continue to be a representative for those under-represented in Canada.

Peter Milliken

The Honorable Peter Milliken is the Member of Parliament for Kingston and the Islands, Ontario.  He is a member of the Liberal Party, and this is his fifth term in Parliament. In January 2001, Peter was voted to be the Speaker for the House of Commons. On Oct 12, 2009 he  became the longest serving speaker in Canadian history.

Before becoming a Member of Parliament and the Speaker of the House of Commons, Peters previous profession was a Solicitor and barrister, lawyer, politician.

As we pray for Peter let us be thankful for the position God has placed him in as Speaker, and as a Member of Parliament. Let us pray that the issues that rise up between the parties within the House during question period, that Peter would have great knowledge and wisdom on how to handle situations. Ask for peace and truth to come to Peter as he works from day to day. That God would help Peter in all situations and would give him Strength. Thank you again Lord for placing Peter in the position of power that he is in. May you bless him with your presence today. Amen.

Larry Miller

Larry Miller is the Member of Parliament for Bruce—Grey—Owen Sound, Ontario.  He is a member of the Conservative Party, and this is his third term in Parliament.

Larry is on Agriculture and Agri-Food and Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure of the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food committee. Prior to entering federal politics, Mr. Miller ran a beef farming operation. Larry and his wife, Darlene, have three grown children, two grandchildren.

Today as we pray for Larry, let us thank the Lord for the part the he plays in Parliament, within his riding, and within his family. Pray that he would have great mental and physical rest so that he will be able to represent his constituency with attentiveness, and alertness.  That he would be able to bring new and creative ideas when challenges seem to rise within Parliament especially around Agriculture.  Bless Larry Lord, and his family. Rob Merrifield

The Honorable Rob Merrifield is the Member of Parliament for Yellowhead, Alberta.  He is a member of the Conservative Party, and this is his forth term in Parliament. Robs current position is the Minister of State for Transport.

Some of Rob’s responsibilities within Parliament consist of; Alberta Infrastructure Caucus, Energy Caucus, Forestry Caucus, Grains and Oil Seeds Caucus, Health Caucus and, Pro-life Caucus. Rob’s previous profession before becoming a Member of Parliament was dairy farming in Alberta. He is married to Brenda, and they have two sons and 5 grandchildren.

As we intercede for Rob, let us focus on the position he is in, and the role he plays. Let us pray for wisdom with how to handle certain situations with Transport, that God would give him the understanding within difficult decisions. Pray for a clear mind and much energy for his own life that he would be physically and mentally healthy to make good decisions for Government and his Constituency. Pray that him and his family would be blessed today. Thank you Lord for placing Rob into the position he is in.

Ted Menzies

Ted Menzies is the Member of Parliament for Macleod, Alberta.  He is a member of the Conservative Party, and this is his third term in Parliament.

Ted is a member of the Finance and Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure of the Standing Committee on Finance committees. Ted’s profession before entering into politics was a farmer. On October 10, 2007, Ted was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance. Ted is married to Sandy. They have two children Michael and Kari Menzies-Cunningham and they also have four grandchildren.

As we pray for Ted, let us pray for much wisdom within the roles he participates in, with the Government and with his personal life. Pray for peace and truth to overwhelm him in difficult and non difficult times as he works in his office and when he is at his constituency representing the people. Let us pray for him and family, that they would have the full understanding of God’s love and they would be blessed with God’s presence in their lives. Thank you Lord for placing Ted within the position that he is in.

Alexandra Mendes

Alexandra Mendes is the MP for Brossard—La Prairie, Québec.  She is a member of the Liberal Party, and this is her first term in Parliament.

She is a member of Citizenship and Immigration committee and an associate member of Justice and Human Rights and Procedure and House Affairs. Alexandra`s previous profession was a Communications Officer.

As we pray for Alexandra, let us ask the Lord for peace to overcome in all areas of her life. Pray that the Lord will grant her wisdom for the difficult decisions she may be facing within her office and with the constituency whom she represents. Let us pray that she will be able to represent the people with diligence and with honor. Let us thank the Lord for placing Alexandra within Parliament and that his presence would bless her life.

Serge Menard

  Mr. Serge Menard is the Member of Parliament for the Bloc Quebecois representing the riding of Marc-Aurele-Fortin in the province of Quebec.  He was first elected in 2004 and has been re-elected ever since.  Mr. Menard is currently the Vice-Chair of the Justice and Human Rights Committee. 

  Mr. Menard was born in Montreal.  He earned a Law degree at the University of Montreal and has been a member of the Quebec Bar since 1966.  He practiced law at the Crown Attorney General’s Office in Quebec and then became a lawyer-criminologist for over twenty five years as well as lecturing at the University of Montreal and law professor at the School Training Bar.

     This past September, Gilles Duceppe, leader of the Bloc, appointed Mr. Menard as the Spokesman on Justice, saying ” With his experience as Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Quebec National Assembly, Mr. Menard has an excellent knowledge of records and issues specific to Quebec law and justice.  This appointment will therefore help us to vigorously defend the rights of Quebecers.” 

Let’s give thanks for Mr. Menard and the years of experience and knowledge he brings to this position.  May he give wise counsel and fair representation to those in his riding and for his province in the areas of justice and human rights.  May he have the wisdom of the Lord to know the real issues.

Hon. Dan McTeague

         The Hon. Dan McTeague is the Liberal Member of Parliament for the riding of Pickering-Scarborough East located in Southern Ontario.  He was first elected into office in 1997 and has won 4 consecutive elections since that time. He currently sits on the Committee for Government Operations and Estimates.         Mr. McTeague’s first job on Parliament Hill was working as an intern for a cabinet minister back in 1982 and he has continued to work his way up with his many years of experience, knowledge and reputation as a hard worker.  He secured the Liberal nomination for his riding, won the election and has not looked back.   Mr. McTeague was voted”the hardest working M.P.” by the Hill Times in 2002.  He has also received awards by the Small Business Federation, and a certificate of appreciation by the Royal Canadian Legion for his efforts on behalf of our Veterans. Mr. McTeague is married and has five children. 

         Let us be thankful for this hard-working M.P. who displays a wonderful and admirable work ethic that is recognized by his peers.  Pray that he also will find time for rest and recreation which can be so challenging when you have a busy and important job.
